What is Tripura Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC?

Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students for studying in India is sponsored by Tripura Welfare of OBC Department. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the OBC students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. permanently settled. Last Date of Scholarship is 31st December 2023.

Eligibility of Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC

i. The scholarships will be open to Indian nationals belonging to OBCs, as notified by the Central Govt./State Govt./ UT Admn.;
ii. These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary courses pursued in recognized institutions as specified in para IV(i).

iii. Only those candidates who belong to OBCs so specified in relation to the State/UT to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. permanently settled and who have passed the Matriculation or Higher secondary or any higher examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education will be eligible.

iv. Candidates who, after passing one stage of education, are studying in the same stage of education in different subject e.g. B. Sc. after B.A or B.Com. after B.A. or M.A. in a subject after M.A in another subject will not be eligible.
v. Students who, after having completed their educational career in one professional line, e.g., LLB after B.T/B. Ed will not be eligible.

vi. Students studying in XI Class of the Higher Secondary School courses or the XII class of the Multipurpose High School will not be eligible for it being a continuous school course. However, in cases, where tenth class examination of such courses is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and students who after passing tenth class join other courses, such students will be treated as post-matric students and will be eligible for the award of scholarships.

vii. Students pursuing Post-graduate courses in medicine will be eligible only if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course.

viii. Students who after failing or passing the Under Graduate/Post-Graduate examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce join any recognized professional or Technical certificate/diploma/degree courses will be awarded scholarships if otherwise eligible. No subsequent failure will be condoned except for courses in Group ‘A’ and no further change in the course will be allowed thereafter.

ix. Students who pursue their studies through correspondence courses will be eligible towards reimbursement of non-refundable fee. The term correspondence includes distant and continuing education. Besides reimbursement of non-refundable fee, such students will also be eligible for an annual allowance of Rs. 900/- for essential/prescribed books, as applicable.

x. Scholarships should be restricted upto two boys of the same parents/guardian. This restriction will, however, not apply to girls.

xi. Employed students whose income combined with the income income of their parents/guardians does not exceed Rs. 1.50 lakh per annum shall be eligible for post-matric scholarship to the extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable non-refundable fee.

xii. Unemployed students whose parents/guardians income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.50 lakh per annum will be entitled for the scholarship under the Scheme.

How to Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC?

i) An application for scholarship to the prescribed authority should comprise:
a. One copy of the application for scholarship in the prescribed form (separate application form may be prescribed by concerned State Government/UT for ‘fresh’ and ‘renewal’ scholarship).
b. One copy of the passport size photograph with signatures of the student thereon (for fresh scholarship)
c. One attested copy each of certificates/diploma/degree etc., in respect of all examination passed.
d. A certificate (in original) of Caste signed by an authorized Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
e. An income declaration by the parents/guardians, stating definite income from all sources by way of income certification from employer along with the affidavit on non-Judicial Stamp Paper.

f. A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year on the form attached to the application duly countersigned by the Head of the Institution concerned, if the applicant was in receipt of a scholarship under this Scheme in the preceding year.

ii) In case of online mode of application, the procedure of application may vary as the application is required to be filled online and the documents needs to be uploaded on the website as notified by the prescribed authority of the concerned State/UT.

iii) Application complete in all respect shall be submitted to the Head of the Institution being attended or last attended by the candidates and shall be addressed to an officer specified for this purpose by the State Government /Union Territory Administration to which the student belongs in accordance with the instructions issued by them from time to time.

Who are eligible to apply for Scholarship Schemes?

What happens, if I detect mistakes in Aadhaar/Mobile number etc after forwarding the applications to the next level?
Answer: In any case you cannot change/edit your Name/Aadhaar/Mobile number/Bank Account details and the software do not provide the facility at any level of Institute/District/State to edit & correct those information.

Do I have to fill up the online application in one sitting?

Answer: No. You can fill up the online application in as many sittings as you wish, until you are satisfied that you have entered all desirable fields correctly. The software provides facility to save your application as draft at every stage.

What is UID number/Aadhaar Number?

Answer: UID number otherwise known as ‘Aadhaar’ number is Unique Identification Number given by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Aadhaar is unique 12 digit number assigned after de-duplication of biometrics.

How do I will get time to time information?

Answer: All the information relating to your Scholarship will be communicated to you through auto generated SMS from the National Scholarship Portal to the registered mobile number which was given by you during application fill up. In that case you should keep your mobile number active to avoid any loss of information.

Can I apply as a Fresh if I am a Renewal candidate?

Answer: No, you cannot apply as a fresh if you are a Renewal candidate. Your application will be rejected in that case.

What should I do, if I do not find my institute name in the drop-down menu?

Answer: You should immediately approach the institute to contact with the nodal officer of the State where the institute is located. If your institute is an eligible institution, the State Government concerned would enter it into the database and then you can apply.

How to check the status of my application?

Answer: Student can check the status of Online Application by submitting his/her application ID and password and open the link “Check your Status”.

How to view the details of a particular scheme?

Answer: You may click on Guidelines link of particular Scheme displaying in On-Boarded schemes section on the Home page.

How to know the deadline for verification of application at Institute/District/State Level?
Answer: The deadline for verification of application at Institute/District/State Level will be displayed on portal.

What to do if I lost my Application ID and Password?

Answer: The “Forgot Application Id” option may be used and this problem can be overcome by using Search by Bank Account Number and Search by Mobile Number.

What is the Last Date of Scholarship?
