Department of Biotechnology invites applications for Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship for the year 2018-19.

Aim
The scheme is conceptualized with the aim of attracting highly skilled researchers (Indian Nationals) working overseas in various cutting edge disciplines of Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bio-engineering/Health Care, Agriculture/ Veterinary Sciences and all other allied areas by providing them an attractive avenue to pursue their R&D interests in Indian institutions.
Who Can Apply?
i) Scientists working in any area of Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bio-engineering/Health Care, Agriculture/ Veterinary Sciences and all other allied areas will be eligible to apply.
ii) The applicant should possess a Ph.D/MD degree or equivalent in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bio-engineering/Health Care, Agriculture/ Veterinary Sciences and all other allied areas with a minimum of three years of post-doctoral research experience of which at least last two years must be from overseas research laboratories.
iii) Those who have already returned to India within one year of the closing date of this advertisement are also eligible to apply.
iv) In case fellow is offered a permanent position, he/she can only avail either fellowship or salary at a given time.
v) The upper age limit for applying is 45 years as on closing date of application.

Step 3 : Fill the application with the required details and applications may be sent as per proforma downloadable from DBT website duly forwarded by the competent authority to the following address, both as a hard copy as well as Soft copy (as a single PDF file only).

Duration & Number Of Fellowships
(i) The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of Five Years. In exceptional cases, the duration of the award may be extended by another two years on a fresh appraisal.
(ii) Up to 75 fellowships will be awarded every year.
Nature Of Support
(i) The amount of the fellowship will be of Rs.1, 00, 000/- (consolidated) per month.
(ii) HRA @ Rs. 18,500 p.m. consolidated.
(iii) Each awardee will, in addition, receive a research /contingency grant of Rs. 10, 00,000 for 1st& 2nd year, Rs. 7, 50,000 per annum for 3rd& 4th year and Rs.5, 00,000 per annum for 5th year for purchase of consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, engaging project staff and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of the project.
(iv) Rs. 50,000/ annum will be provided as an institutional overhead.
