Embassy of India Ambassador’s Scholarship

Embassy of India invites applications for the Ambassador’s Scholarship for the year 2018-19.

Who Can Apply?

** College students and Buddhist students undergoing undergraduate/post graduate courses in India for the Academic year 2018-19.
** Students pursuing vocational training may also apply for the Scholarship.

How to Apply?

Step 2 : Read the instructions carefully before you are applying.
Step 3 : Next click on the “Ambassador’s Scholarship Form 2019” button at the end of the page.

Step 4 : Fill the application with the following details and click on the Submit button

Documents Required

Please confirm that following documents have been uploaded before final submission
a) Photocopy of Bhutanese Citizenship card
b) Passport size photograph
c) Marksheet of previous year or last semester
d) Certificate from College/Institution in the given format
e) Fee receipt attested by College/ Institution
f) Scan of first page of bank passbook

Scholarship Details

Scholarship For Self-Financing Students :
The Scholarship is awarded to meritorious and deserving Bhutanese students who are already undergoing undergraduate level courses in various recognized institutes in India after completing their schooling in Bhutan on self-financing basis.

In the last seven years, w.e.f. 2011 till 2017 more than 5000 Bhutanese students have benefited from this scheme. Every year this Mission receives more than 1000 application forms directly from interested students.

Scholarship For Vocational Training :
During the visit of President of India to Bhutan in November, 2014, the Ambassador’s scholarship amount was increased to Rs. 2 crores.

It was decided to earmark Rs. 1 crore for providing Vocational training to Bhutanese youth and thus the Vocational Training was conceptualized in 2015-16 under Ambassador’s Scholarship Scheme.

The main objective of imparting Vocational training to Bhutanese youth under the Ambassador’s Scholarship scheme is to improve skill development and make the youth competitive in the job market.

It is also intended to provide livelihood opportunities to the youth of Bhutan and school dropouts who are unable to pursue further studies due to financial constraints or other reasons. In 2017-18, a total of 40 Bhutanese youth availed of this scheme.

All expenses, including tuition fees, travel cost, hostel accommodation and food charge, are covered under the Ambassador’s scholarship for vocational training. In addition, living expenses/stipend is also paid in cash.
