PRL Aruna Lal Scholarships

On the occasion of the National Science Day, the Aruna Lal Scholarships are awarded to five meritorious students selected based on a screening test, followed by personal interview by a panel of scientists.

The Aruna Lal foundation was established by Late Prof. Devendra Lal, former Director, PRL, to encourage high school children to pursue studies in Science and related subjects.

These Scholarships are awarded for a period of two years to 5 students of 11th Standard (Science Stream) subject to their satisfactory performance in science subjects during higher secondary.

This may be extended to 3rd year in case of those awardees who study in basic sciences after 12th standard.

National Science Day 2018

National Science Day will be celebrated at Physical Research Laboratory on 24th February 2018 . On this occasion, Aruna Lal Scholarships and other prizes will be awarded to meritorious students selected based on a screening test at designated test centres, followed by competitive events and personal interview at PRL.

The Aruna Lal scholarship has been instituted by Late Prof.Devendra Lal, former Director of Physical Research Laboratory.

Application & Eligibility

Principals of higher secondary schools of Gujarat are requested to nominate a maximum of seven students of 11th standard (Science stream) using the School/School Registration menu. Please register the school first and then nominate the student(s).

Selection Procedure

A screening test will be conducted at Ahmedabad Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, Porbandar, Rajkot, Bhuj, Patan, Palanpur and Bhavnagar on 07th January 2018.

Top 150 students in the merit list of the screening test will be selected for subsequent round of competitive events to be held at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, on 24th February 2018.

Medium:
The schools having different mediums (English/ Gujarati/ Hindi) have to register separately.

Please Note :
** The screening test will be held on Sunday, 07th January 2018, at 11:00 hrs. at all the centres. The test will be of one hour duration.
** Entry of students appearing in the screening test will start from 10:00 hrs. onwards.
** While entering the screening test centre, students will have to produce a copy of the admit card/slip (duly signed by his/ her school Principal) along with school ID card.
** The question paper contains multiple-choice questions mostly covering the 11th standard Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology) syllabus.
** The aim of the screening test is to check the scientific aptitude of a students and hence the test will be common for ‘A’ group, ‘B’ group and ‘AB’ group students.
** For further information please follow the Model Question Paper.
** Questions will be printed in English, Hindi and Gujarati. However, there will be a single answer sheet written in English.
** A right answer will be awarded “+3” marks, an un-attempted question will be given “O(Zero)” marks, and a wrong answer will be given “-1” mark.
