Ministry of Human Resource Development is inviting ONLINE APPLICATIONS
from Indian Nationals residing in India for the above-mentioned Commonwealth Scholarship for Masters/ Ph.D. level Study in New Zealand. Applicants can apply online at proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship/

Ph.D. – 1(one) & MASTERS 1(one) :
SUBJECT FIELDS :
1. Environmental Studies;
2. Agriculture and Fisheries

TENURE OF A WARDS :
Master’s : 1-2 years

Note :
Master Degree programs which are less than 2 years in duration of foreign universities have not been accorded equivalence by Association of Indian Universities (AIU). A!U does not issue Equivalence Certificate in such cases.

Ph.D. :
3-4 years

For Applying To Ministry Of Human Resource Development :
Required Minimum Qualifications : Applicants should have completed Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in the subject or allied fields with minimum 65% marks for Master’s or Ph.D. respectively.
** AGE The applicant should be under 40 years of age as on 31.05.20 I 5.
** The documents to be uploaded at the time of online application at proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship/.
(a) Self attested scanned copy of the mark-sheet of degrees, diploma, qualifying examination,
(b) Where grades are mentioned, the candidate must upload the official explanation adopted by the University/Institution.
(c) Self attested copy of date of birth certificate/ class 10′” certificate bearing date of birth or other equivalent documents.
(d) self attested copy of language proficiency as specified in the form.
(Note : The size must be under 530 kb for a single file. Applicant can zip in case of more than one document to be uploaded. A zip file is treated as a single file and it must be under 530 kb in size.)

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS :
Fully-funded tuition

Financial support :
including a fortnightly living allowance, an establishment allowance, medical and travel insurance, travel to and from applicant’s home country at the start and end of his/her scholarship, home leave or reunion travel for some students, and assistance with research and thesis costs for most postgraduate research students.

Personal and academic support :
they have international student advisors to help and support scholars with any issues with their scholarship, study or well-being. When studying in New Zealand they will also have the assurance of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students which sets minimum standards to ensure international students in New Zealand are well informed, safe, and properly cared for by their education provider.

Bringing applicant’s family with him/her :
If scholar brings family members with him/her to New Zealand, he/she will need to pay all their expenses. But scholar may be eligible for some non-financial help for immediate family members, such as a work visa (subject to Immigration New Zealand requirements), access to New Zealand health care, and access to New Zealand primary and secondary education. If scholars bring family members with them to the Pacific, you may be entitled to an additional dependent allowance for the duration of your scholarship.

Applicant Must ::
a) reside in their country of citizenship until taking up the scholarship in New Zealand.
b) not hold another scholarship during the period of the Commonwealth Scholarship.
c) agree in writing that they will return to their country of citizenship for a minimum period of two years following completion of their scholarship in order to contribute to their country’s social or economic development.

Important Note :
** Applicants must make an early application to a New Zealand University. A Commonwealth Scholarship cannot be confirmed without evidence that an applicant has received an offer of a place from a New Zealand University.
** A conditional letter of offer from a New Zealand university is sufficient to allow an application to be accepted; (To be produced at the time of interview)
** The New Zealand Government has the right to amend the terms and conditions ofthe scholarships as needed.

NOTES :
I. Applicant for Master’s and Doctoral research must give a 500 word statement outlining his/her proposed research topic.
2. Letters of reference : Letters from the referees to be submitted at the time of interview Three references (no more than 24 months old) on official letterhead, supporting applicant’s scholarship application to study in New Zealand. References should be provided from your current employer and a former lecturer, and where possible, a relevant government or community-based organization.
3. Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialization either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after returning from abroad as on 31.5.2015.
4. Applications in subject fields other than those specified above will not be considered.
5. Applications of candidates who are abroad will not be considered.
6. Those who have already completed Ph.D. in India or abroad need not apply.
7. Candidates who do not possess the requisite qualifications need not apply.
8. Candidates should have adequate knowledge of geographical situation, cultural heritage of India and the donor country.
9. Experience has to be supported by documentary evidence.
10. Candidates must have good knowledge of written and spoken English (The donor country reserves the right to request evidence of having passed an accredited English language test).
II. Applicants are required to be of sound health and awards are subject to successful candidates’ satisfying a prescribed medical examination by donor country.
12. Employed candidates must obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer. In caseof Government servant, cadre clearance is a must.
13. Mere fulfilment of requirements as laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for interview.
14. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
15. Candidates who do not possess the essential qualifications need not apply.
16. THE DECISION OF SELECTION COMMITTEE SHALL BE FINAL. & NO REPRESENTATIONS IN THIS REGARD WILL BE ENTERTAINED.
17. The applicant in employment (to which he/she wishes to return) should have an assurance from his employer that he/she will be granted sufficient leave if he/she is awarded this scholarship during study period in China.
18. All information regarding the date of interview of short listed applicants will be made available on MHRD’s website
19. All communication to short listed applicants will be made on their registered email. It is advised that working email should be provided.
