Italian Government Scholarships For The Academic Year 2015/2016 :

Ministry of Human Resource Development is inviting online application from Indian national for scholarship offered by Government of Italy for the Academic Year 2015-16. All applicants must fill in the on-line application form at

For the academic year 2015-2016, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is offering 54 number of man-month scholarships to Indian students. A stipend amount of 700 Euro per month will be paid to Indian scholar. Air ticket is to be born by the scholars themselves.

Scholarship duration and time frame :
The scholarship duration can be three, six, or nine months. Only for Courses for teachers of Italian language the scholarship duration is one month.

Time frame :
January 1st- December 31th 2016.

Detailed information regarding the scholarship offer, can be requested to the Italian Embassy or Italian Cultural Institute in the applicant’s country of citizenship.

It is NOT allowed to apply for study/ research projects at : c foreign institutions (such as universities, academies, libraries, schools of any kind) even if they operate in Italy;

Courses for which it is possible to apply for a scholarship and required qualifications :
No scholarships are offered for :
CJ Single university course
D Research project
D Undergraduate University courses, except for renewals (please see point A below).

The scholarships are offered for the following type of courses :
A. Undergraduate University courses (Laurea Triennale – 1° ciclo e a ciclo unico). RENEWALS ONLY

Note :
This Ministry does not invite application for renewal. Applicant for renewal may apply at Italian website

Requirements :
This type of scholarship is offered only to candidates who in the academic year 2014-15 received a scholarship to attend an Undergraduate Course (Laurea Triennale or Corso di Laurea a Cicio Unico), and in the academic year 2015-16 will enroll at least for the second year of the same course. The renewal is subject to verification of the student’s academic achievements.

Postgraduate University courses (Laurea Magistrate- 2° ciclo) :
Requirements :
Admission to the first year of a Postgraduate course requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent recognized foreign qualification; for enrolment/admission after the first year, the scholarship-holder is required to have passed the university exams of the previous year.

Master’s Degree courses (Levels I or II) :
Requirements :
For admission, the candidate must have the academic qualification required for the chosen Master course. It is the candidate’s responsibility to contact the chosen Institution in order to be informed on the activation of the master, the schedule and the other requirements for registration. If the course includes a period of study in a country other than Italy, payment ofthe scholarship will be suspended for that period.

Please note :
a master course might be eventually canceled or it might be activated with delays. The scholarship will be paid only if the master course is activated and only for the months of confirmed registration of the applicant to the master course.

Ph.D. Courses. :
Requirements :
For admission, the candidate must have the academic qualification required for the chosen Ph.D. course. It is the candidate’s responsibility to contact the chosen Institute in order to be informed on the activation of the course, the schedule and the other requirements for registration. If the course includes a period of study in a country other than Italy, payment of the scholarship will be suspended for that period.

Please note :

Specialisation Schools (Scuole di Specializzazione) :
Requirements :
For admission, the candidate must have the academic qualification required for the chosen School. It is the candidate’s responsibility to contact the chosen School in order to be informed on the activation and schedule of the course, and the other eventual requirements of registration. Specialization schools of medical disciplines are not eligible to get a scholarship.

Research under academic supervision (Progetti di Studio in co-tutela) :
Requirements :
in order to apply for this type of scholarship, the candidate must submit the research project and the letters of acceptance from the host Institution. The research project must be carried out within the Italian State Education and Research System, including public museums and archives, and institutions as CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) and ISS (Jstituto Superiore di Sanita).

Documents To Be Uploded At The Time Of Online Application At Ministry Of Human Resource Development Website :
(a) A pdf copy of the online application filled in at Italian Government website.
(b) Self attested scanned copy of the mark-sheet, certificate, degrees, diploma, qualifying examination,
(c) Where grades are mentioned, the candidate must upload the official explanation adopted by the University/Institution.
(d) Self attested copy of date of birth certificate/ class lOth certificate bearing date of birth or other equivalent documents.
(e) Documentary evidence of the applicant’s knowledge of the Italian language (like a diploma or certificate).

Note :
The size must be under 530 kb for a single file. Applicant can zip in case of more than one document to be uploaded. A zip file is treated as a single file and it must be nuder 530 kb iu size

NOTE :
i) Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialization either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after returning from abroad as on 13.05.2015.
ii) Applications of candidates who are abroad will not be considered.
iii) For research students, a statement of 500 words outlining the applicant’s proposed research topic, including research question and objectives, proposed methodology, timeline and justification. The statement should also identify the significance and application of the proposed research topic to the development of the applicant’s home country.
iv) Candidates who do not possess the requisite qualifications need not apply.
v) Candidates should have adequate knowledge of geographical situation, cultural heritage oflndia and the donor country.
vi) Applicants are required to be of sound health and awards are subject to successful candidates’ satisfying a prescribed medical examination by donor country.
vii) Canvassing in any form & suppression of any fact in the application will disqualify the candidature of the applicant.
viii) Equivalent foreign degree will be considered.
ix) While indicating the period of past experience and stay abroad, candidate should mention the specific dates.
x) The selection committee’s decision about the nomination or the candidates will be final. NO REPRESENTATIONS IN THIS REGARD WILL BE ENTERTAINED.
xi) THE FINAL SELECTION OF THE NOMINA TED CANDIDATES RESTS WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF ITALY.
xii) Mere fulfillment of minimum requirements as laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for scholarship

xiv) All communication will be made to applicants’ registered email. It is advised that
working email should be provided.
xv) Employed candidates must obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer. In case of Government servant, cadre clearance is a must.
