What is TNSDC UPSC Prelims Scholarship?

To empower the youth of Tamil Nadu to excel in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), is conducting a screening test titled “UPSC Prelims Scholarship Exam 2026” on 06.09.2026. The examination will shortlist 1,000 candidates, who will be awarded a monthly scholarship of ₹7,500 for a period of 10 months to support their preparation for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2027. Last date of application is 3rd August 2026.

Eligibility of TNSDC UPSC Prelims Scholarship

The Candidate must hold a degree of any recognized University in India.

Age Eligibility: (as on 01.08.2027)
** Minimum 21 years
** Maximum – As given below.

Note:
** SC/ST/SC (A) candidate should not be above 37 Years and for Differently Abled candidates should not be above 47 Years.
** BC/BC (M) / MBC/DNC candidates should not be above 35 Years and for Differently Abled candidates should not be above 45 Years.
** General candidates should not be above 32 Years for Differently Abled candidates should not be above 42 Years

How To Apply For TNSDC UPSC Prelims Scholarship?

** The candidates are requested to apply only through Online mode in the following link: https://www.skilldevelopment.tn.gov.in
** The candidates who are already employed in the Government are not eligible to Apply for this Scholarship Exam.
** The students who avail this scholarship must apply for the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam-2027. The scholarship will be stopped for the candidates who fail to apply and submit the documents to TNSDC.

Screening Test Centers:
1. Exam Centers are available in all 38 Districts of Tamil Nadu. The Candidates should choose any one center for writing the examination in the application form. The venue of the center will be intimated in the Hall Ticket.
2. TNSDC reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of examination centers to re-allot the applicants accordingly.
3. Applicants should appear for the examination at their own expense.

Note:
1. As this Scholarship Exam is conducted in coordination with the All-India Civil Services Coaching Centre, separate Entrance Test will not be conducted by the All- India Civil Service Coaching Centre for admission to its Centre in Chennai and Anna Centenary Civil Services Coaching Academies in Coimbatore and Madurai.

2. UPSC Prelims scholarship has been restricted to two times per student. Hence,
the Candidates who have received Prelims Scholarship twice in the last three years are not eligible for this UPSC Prelims Scholarship Exam 2026. However, candidates interested to take part in AICSCC residential/ part time coaching in Chennai and ACCSCA residential coaching in Coimbatore and Madurai shall apply for the above exam, since the same score card will be utilized for the residential/ part time training.

3. The candidates will be shortlisted for UPSC Prelims Scholarship programme based on their marks obtained in the screening test and as per reservation policy of Government of Tamil Nadu.
