What is BCWD Karnataka Post Matric Scholarship?

Karnataka Backward Classes Welfare Department (BCWD) is inviting an application for Post-Matric Scholarship, Post-Matric Merit Scholarship for Nomadic/Semi-Nomadic Students, Fee Reimburse-ment, and Vidyasiri (Food and accommodation Assistance Scheme) for eligible OBC and NT/SNT students for the year 2025-26. Students pursuing post-matric courses in Government / Local Body / Aided Institutions / Recognized Unaided Private Institutions under the Statutory Universities of Karnataka can apply. Last date to apply is 31.01.2026.

Eligibility of BCWD Karnataka Post Matric Scholarship

** The applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
** Must be included in the list of Other Backward Classes notified by the Government of India or the State Government.
** Students pursuing post-matric courses in Government / Local Body / Aided Institutions / Recognized Unaided Private Institutions under the Statutory Universities of Karnataka.
** To avail this benefit, the total annual income of the student, his / her parents / guardian’s family will be Rs. The limit is Rs 2.50 lakh for CAT-I, The total annual family income of the parents / guardians of the students belonging to CAT-II A, CAT-IIIA and CAT-IIIB should be within Rs. 1.00 lakh.
** If they are studying more than once in the same course.
** Management Quota, Private Seat in Private College and ComedK seat type students are not eligible to take advantage of this scheme.
** Those who have passed / failed in Arts, Science, and Commerce courses, Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees, have studied in recognized professional or technical certificate, diploma, degree courses, and are otherwise eligible, are eligible for benefits under this scheme.
** Those who have taken the course more than once will not be eligible.
** Students studying in postgraduate medical courses, if they are practicing medicine during the course of the course, will not be eligible for this facility.
** Post-Matric students of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare are eligible for fee reimbursement or to be a beneficiary under any one of the Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship Programmes.
** Only two sons of the same family are eligible for this scheme. However, this rule does not apply to girls.

The objective of this scheme is to provide post-matric scholarship facility to the day scholar students of backward classes studying in post-matric courses in residential colleges in any department, hostel, who do not get admission and are not selected under Food Accommodation And Assistance Scheme.
