What is Stanford Next Asia Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship?
The Stanford Next Asia Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026-27 is offered by the Stanford Next Asia Policy Lab (SNAPL) at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Centre (APARC), Stanford University. The fellowship supports emerging scholars engaged in interdisciplinary, problem-oriented, and policy-relevant research on Asia’s contemporary challenges. Selected fellows will receive USD 80,000 per year plus benefits and access to Stanford research facilities for a two-year appointment. Last date of application is 1st December 2025.
Eligibility of Stanford Next Asia Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship
To be eligible, an applicant must:
** have completed a Ph.D. degree within three years of the fellowship,
** hold a Ph.D. in social sciences, humanities, or related disciplines, with demonstrated interest in Asian policy research
** show strong academic merit, research productivity, and interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
** have their dissertation submitted and approved for conferral by June 30, 2026, and certification of degree completion submitted no later than August 31, 2026
Benefits of Stanford Next Asia Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship
Selected fellows will receive a USD 80,000 annual salary and other benefits.
How To Apply For Stanford Next Asia Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship?
The Lab invites applications for two 2-year postdoctoral fellowships for scholars with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and policy engagement on contemporary Asia. The Lab is particularly interested in scholars who are enthusiastic about collaborating closely with other Lab members across diverse thematic areas. Applications for fall quarter 2026 admission are due by December 1, 2025.

** A formal letter of request detailing their relevant research and experiences related to one of the research themes, including plans for solo and collaborative, co-authored publications;
** A formal and complete academic CV, including a list of publications.

IV. Email Letters of Recommendation
Email THREE (3) letters of recommendation to Ms. Kerstin Norris at SNAPLcontact@stanford.edu by December 1, 2025. The candidate’s legal name and email address must be included at the top of each required document. In cases where there are overlapping interests, candidates are permitted to apply for more than one postdoctoral fellowship track.
