What is Odisha Freeship Card for ST & SC Students?

Freeship Card is sponsored by State Scholarship Portal Government of Odisha. Interested eligible ST & SC students can apply for freeship card in Odisha State Scholarship Portal (OSSP) by providing basic eligibility documents i.e. income certificate and caste certificate and basic profile details. The issuance of Freeship Card only will not ensure payment of scholarship unless scholarship application is made in OSSP and is sanctioned by concerned DWO.

How to Apply for Freeship Card?

Freeship card is a declaration by the Government that student is eligible for scholarship under Post-Matric Scholarship schemes of ST & SC Development Department as per prevailing rates/guidelines of the Department.

** From AY 2021-22 onwards, Freeship Card will be issued to Fresh Applicants (New registrations/ registered user applying scholarship in new course) and once issued, this shall remain valid for entire duration of course.
** Interested eligible ST & SC students can apply for freeship card in Odisha State Scholarship Portal (OSSP) by providing basic eligibility documents i.e. income certificate and caste certificate and basic profile details.
** Upon verification, the District Welfare Officer of domicile district will approve Freeship Card which can be downloaded by student from her/ his login.

** Institutions shall allow admission to Freeship Card holders without pre-payment of fee considering that student undertake to reimburse the fee upon receipt of scholarship amount as per prevailing rates/ guidelines. However, any residual payment, if needed, will required to be paid by the student to the institute.

** The issuance of Freeship Card only will not ensure payment of scholarship unless scholarship application is made in OSSP and is sanctioned by concerned DWO.

One-time, online registration of students for applying for Scholarship via portal:
** I have read and understood the eligibility and other conditions of award of Scholarship as per the scheme guidelines.
** I understand that my application is liable to be rejected if I provide wrong Aadhaar number or Aadhaar number of someone else’s.
** I understand that if more than one application is found to be made on-line, all my applications are liable to be rejected.
** I understand that for any wrong entry of Bank-account details, the State Government will not be responsible for mis-credit and I will be held responsible for diversion of public money on this ground.

One-time, online registration of students for applying for Scholarship via portal:
** Aadhaar is made mandatory for availing scholarship. Registration on the portal is based on Aadhaar. In one Aadhaar only single registration is allowed. Please provide correct Aadhaar number of self in the prescribed field. In case it is found that Aadhaar number provided by student is wrong or not his/her, the application is liable to be rejected.

** As per the Item 35 of Chapter VII of Aadhaar (Targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) ACT, 2016, if a person enter Aadhaar number of any other person and attempt to impersonate another person, dead or alive, real or imaginary, he/she shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.

** I have read the above statements & agree with the conditions. Further, I hereby state that I have no objection in authenticating myself with Demographic Aadhaar authentication system for the purpose of availing benefit of Scholarship.

Student’s registration will be done on the basis of successful OTP based demographic authentication of Aadhaar. Therefore, kindly note the following:
** Please provide correct Aadhaar number of self in the prescribed field given below.
** Please ensure beforehand that your Aadhaar is linked with an operative mobile number to receive OTP for authentication process.
** Please ensure beforehand that your Name, Gender and DOB reflected in Aadhaar are correct (including spelling of name & surname). If there is any problem, you are advised to update/ correct Aadhaar before making registration.
** In case you do not have Aadhaar, you are requested to apply for Aadhaar enrolment at any Aadhaar enrolment centre at the earliest and revisit the portal with your e-Aadhaar details for completing the registration.
** I hereby give my consent for authenticating myself with Demographic Aadhaar authentication system for the purpose of availing benefit of Scholarship
** Before proceeding to the next step, properly check your Name, DOB and Gender auto-filled by the portal.
** If the name is not yours then recheck your Aadhaar number filled by you
** If the spelling of your Name/ DOB/ Gender is wrong, please do not proceed further. Please visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to correct the details. Once the correction is reflected in Aadhaar, re-visit the portal and verify your Aadhaar again for fetching correct details in your application.

Password Information :
** Password length should not be less than 8 and not more than 20 characters.
** Password should contain at least one digit [0-9], one upper case [A-Z], one lower case letter [a-z] and one special character such as [@#&*$!].
** Please avoid choosing a password that is generic in nature, guessable or inferable.
** Upon receiving system generated password, immediately change the password and keep your ID & Password confidential. In case any mis-credit/manipulation happens due to sharing of user id & password with others, student will be solely held responsible.

FAQ on Odisha Scholarship Portal

Where do I go to find scholarship Opportunities?
To find scholarships you are eligible for, it is advised to first look at the information provided by your choosen University. All Funding Information will be listed on the University’s Website or this Scholarship Portal, and this is also where you will find the relevant contact information should you have any questions about scholarship applications.

What is the last date for submitting applications online?
For such dates please look at the “News & Announcement” in the home page.

Should I apply again for renewal of Scholarship (Registered Applicants)? From this Academic year renewal of Scholarship will be done by Institute. You just have to inform Institute about your “Aadhar Card Number”, “Caste certificate issuing authority” to be entered in application details. Any change in Mobile number, Address for Correspondence, Bank Account details has to be communicated to the Institute.

What happens, if I detect mistakes after forwarding the applications to the institutes?
You should separately inform the mistakes detected by you to the Scholarship Nodal Officer of your Institute. The software provides facility at the level of the institute to correct information provided by the applicant.

What should I do, if I do not find my institute name in the drop-down menu?
You should immediately approach the institute to contact with the District Officer of the District where the institute is located. If your institute is an eligible institution, the District Officer would enter it into the database and then you can apply.

What all documents I have to submit with the print out of the application?
You have to submit Original Caste Certificate, Original Income Certificate, Copy of First page of Bank Passbook(showing IFSC Code of the Bank & Bank Account Number) and Disability Certificate(if any) along with the print out of the Application. Institute would verify the original certificates & return back to the students.
