What is Pre-Matric Scholarship for Schedule Tribes?

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Schedule Tribes studying in Classes IX & X 2023-24 is sponsored by Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Mizoram. The objective of the scheme is to support parents of ST children for education of their wards studying in classes IX and X so that the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage is minimized, and To improve participation of ST children in classes IX and X of the Pre-matric stage, so that they perform better and have a better chance of progressing to the post-matric stage of education. The scheme is 90:10 funding from by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Mizoram state. Last Date of Scholarship is 8th March 2024.

Eligibility of Pre-Matric Scholarship

a) Parents/Guardians’ income from all sources should not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- (Rs. Two lakh Fifty Thousand only) per annum.
b) Candidates must belong to Scheduled Tribes.
c) Permanently settled in Mizoram State.
d) Studying Class IX and X.

How to Apply for Pre-Matric Scholarship?

General Instruction/ Guidelines :
** Candidates must read the instruction carefully before registration.
** Candidates are advised to fill all the requisite details carefully and check properly before submission. As no correction/ editing is allowed after submission.
** Any wrong/ false information may lead to rejection.
** Candidates are advised to fill their correct and active mobile number and e-mail address in the online application. All Correspondence/ communication will be made through mobile/ e-mail only.
** Candidates are also advised to refer to National Scholarship Portal for regular updates.

** Aadhaar will be mandatory for registration on NSP
i. Major applicants – If Aadhaar not assigned, candidate will be required to enroll for Aadhaar and register using Aadhaar Enrolment Identification (EID)
ii. Minor applicants – If Aadhaar assigned, candidate is advised to enroll using Aadhaar. Where Aadhaar/EID of the minor applicant is not assigned, Aadhaar of parent/legal guardian will be mandatorily required.

** For applications with EID, Scholarship to be disbursed only on furnishing of Aadhaar.
** Aadhaar based eKYC will be performed to verify credential of candidates.
** All scholarship payments will be made using Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) only.
** Candidates requested to ensure that demographic details in Aadhaar shall be same as in school/ institute records. If any difference found, same should be corrected in Aadhaar.
** Registration made through parents’ Aadhaar will be valid only till student is minor, once candidate turns to major it will be his/her responsibility to update Aadhaar on NSP.
** Candidates are advised to ensure that his/her mobile number is linked to Aadhaar for receiving OTP from UIDAI. To check the mobile linking status please visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verify-email-mobile .
** Candidates are advised to ensure that bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar. To check the seeding status kindly visit https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper.
** Candidates are advised to activate and update their DigiLocker account for automated verification.

Requirement Documents of Pre-Matric Scholarship

a) Aadhaar Card.
b) Bank Account (self-account).
c) Income certificate issued by competent authority (up to date).
d) Previous year mark sheet.
e) Permanent Residential Certificate (up to date).
f) Tribal Certificate.

Important Notice :
** For any problem contact 873-007-5005 OR 0389-2954196 during office working hours.
** Applicant must submit correct Bank Account, IFSC & Aadhaar Number of their OWN. Scholarship Board will not be responsible if applicant do not receive scholarship due to submission of incorrect details.
** In case of Mizoram Rural Bank, delete – (hyphen) and joint (concatenate) with next number. Eg: 9700456741-1 (Wrong) / 97004567411 (Right)
** Income Certificate must be upto-date (Issued during 2023-2024 by competent authority only i.e. DC /SDO Sadar/Magistrate etc.)
** All documents uploaded must be original & legible (Xerox copy & illegible document will be rejected).
** Disability: Only BLIND and 100% DISABLE are covered under this scheme.
