What is Everest Scholarship?

Everest is sponsored by Team Everest ‘I am the Change’ Scholarship. Students should have passed the 12th standard with more than 65% marks. Students should be from financially poor families. The student should have completed 12th std in a school in Chennai, Coimbatore, or Madurai. The Scholar will get a maximum of Rs. 30,000 per year towards their college fee. Scholarship application will be open for 2024 Plus-2 passed students out students when their Plus-2 results are out.

Student Eligibility Criteria of Everest Scholarship

Any student who falls under the following eligibility criteria can apply for Team Everest ‘I am the Change’ Scholarship.
Monthly Income: Students should be from financially poor families.
Marks: Students should have passed the 12th standard with more than 65% marks.
School Location: The student should have completed 12th std in a school in Chennai, Coimbatore, or Madurai.
College Location: Students should be ready to do college in Chennai, Coimbatore, or Madurai.
Degree: The student should be willing to study any degree offerings in Arts & Science, Engineering. This scholarship does not support diplomas, Polytechnic Courses, Law, Medicine and Teacher Training.
Merit Quota: Students can join any accredited colleges in Chennai, Coimbatore & Madurai through Merit quota only. Admission under the management quota is not allowed.

Student Benefits of Everest Scholarship

Financial Support :
** The Scholar will get a maximum of Rs. 30,000 per year towards their college fee.
** If the fee is less than Rs. 30,000, we will pay the actual college fee amount. A minimum of Rs 10,000 per year will be paid as a scholarship till you finish under graduation.
** The scholarship amount includes book fees, Transportation fees, Hostel fees, Mess fees, Exam fees etc
** Scholarship is not auto renewed. Students need to show academic progress, attend our training programs regularly to earn their next year of scholarship.

Skill Development :
** We will give 100+ hours of skill training programs every year for all our students.
** We train our students in Spoken English, Soft Skills, Problem-Solving skills, and all other crucial Career Skills. We do it to ensure all our students become employable when they finish graduation.
** We conduct both in-class and virtual training. Considering the Covid situation, we have converted all our training into phone-based programs.
** Our virtual training programs equip students with all the necessary skills. We will restart the in-class training when the situation becomes normal.

Internship Opportunities :
** We will provide an opportunity to intern with a corporate or startup during any 30 days of the year.
** The students would be required to clear any tests needed for the corporate to be part of the internship.
** We do this to ensure our students get exposure to a work environment and crucial practical learning. Many job interviewers take internships done into consideration while recruiting.
** All student should complete at least 1 internship during their graduation period.

Job Opportunities :
** Many corporate companies are partners with us and sponsor some of our scholarship students.
** We facilitate job interviews for our final year students with these companies. We also reach other corporate companies and arrange job interviews for our students.
** If you develop necessary skills during your graduation period, you will end up with a good job apart from getting scholarship support from us.

Selection Process of Everest Scholarship

Eligibility Check :
** We will verify the following eligibility criteria via a Telephonic Interview. Check your eligibility criteria here.

Mark Verification :
** We verify the student’s 12th marks by cross-checking the marksheets. We do this to ensure if the student has a minimum of 65% in 12th standard.

Skill Assessment :
** Our volunteer will carry out an assessment for the student to check their basic skills.

Student Interview :
** The students who pass the above screening steps will get a call from one of our volunteers. The volunteer will conduct an interview for the student to get to know the student better.

Parent Interview :
** After the student interview, our volunteer will conduct an interview for the parent. This is to understand the student’s family background and income status.

Home Visit :
** Our Volunteers will visit the student homes to do a background check.

Student Commitment :
** All the terms of the scholarship are explained to the student including financial assistance, skill training, internships, and volunteering activities.
** This scholarship is called as ‘I am the Change’ scholarship because we encourage every student to sponsor at least 1 student for their education in their lifetime.
** So, every student should give a written commitment to support at least 1 student in their life time along with following the other guidelines of the scholarship.

Final Interview :
** The students who are shortlisted for this step will have a final interview.
