What is LEAD Talent Search Exam LTSE?

LTSE 2024 stands for LEAD Talent Search Exam. It is an annual exam conducted by LEAD Trust to select bright students who want to pursue higher studies in India’s prestigious colleges. These include top engineering colleges (IIT, NIT, BITS), and top medical colleges (AIIMS, AFMC, JIPMER). Lead trust has finalized the exam dates for LTSE 2024. All students who are going to appear for the 10th grade exam in that year. The student should have secured at least 60% in the 9th grade exam. Students can also attempt the Mock test before the final exams.

Who Can Apply for LEAD Talent Search Exam?

The student should have secured at least 60% in the 9th grade exam. All students who are going to appear for the 10th grade exam in that year. The student can be from any caste, religion, ethnicity, or other backgrounds. Both male and female students can write the exam.

How to Apply for LEAD Talent Search Exam?

Just follow the below steps to apply for the LTSE 2020 .
Step 1 : Go to the official website of Lead Trust through the URL https://leadtrust.in/
Step 2 : Then click on the “LTSE 2024 Registration” link in the top of the home page
Step 3 : Fill the registration form with the required details and finally click on the “Submit” button

Exam Dates:
India : 3rd December 2023 (Sunday)
Middle East : 2nd December 2023 (Saturday)
We encourage students to attempt our mock test and previous years question papers to get a handful of experience with the type of questions

Exam Instructions of LTSE

Time Allotted: 2 Hrs 30 Min
Make sure the Email ID and Hall Ticket Number entered are the same as given during the registration.
This question paper consists of 5 sections, of which at least 4 must be attempted.
Section 1 (Mathematics): Students opting for Engineering
Section 2 (Biology): Students opting for Medicine
Section 3, 4 & 5 (Physics, Chemistry & LR): Compulsory for all the students
If a student attempts all the 5 sections, he/she will be considered for both Engineering and Medicine streams. During the time of personal interviews, he/she will be able to choose which stream he/she wants to pursue.
Every Section has 20 Single Correct Multiple Choice Questions.

MARKING SCHEME:
Correct Attempt: +1 Mark
Un-Attempted : 0 Mark
Wrong Attempt: -0.25 Mark
Every wrong attempt reduces 0.25 mark, we suggest students avoid any guesswork
You Must submit the responses before the timer ends. You will be unable to submit if the time of the exam is over.

Syllabus of LTSE LEAD Talent Search Exam

LTSE 2024 will be based on NCERT Class IX and Term – 1 of Class X. Please use the following as a guide to prepare for LTSE 2024.
Mathematics :
Class IX :
** Number System – rational number, irrational numbers, real numbers and their decimal expansions, representing real numbers on number line, operations on real numbers, laws of exponent for real numbers.
** Polynomials – polynomials in one variable, zeros of a polynomial, remainder theorem, factorisation of polynomials, algebraic identities.
** Coordinate Geometry – Cartesian system, plotting a point in the plane if its coordinates are given.
** Linear Equation in Two Variables – linear equations, solution of a linear equation, graph of a linear equation in two variables, equation of lines parallel to x-axis and y-axis
** Introduction to Euclid’s Geometry – Euclid’s definitions, axioms and postulates, equivalent versions of Euclid’s fifth postulate
** Lines and Angles – basic terms and definitions, intersecting lines and non-intersecting lines, pairs of angles, parallel lines and a transversal, lines parallel to the same line, angle sum property of a triangle
** Triangles – congruence of triangles, criteria for congruence of triangles, some properties of a triangle, inequalities in a triangle
** Quadrilaterals – angle sum property of a quadrilateral, types of quadrilateral, properties of a parallelogram, condition for a quadrilateral to be a parallelogram, the mid-point theorem
** Areas of Parallelograms and Triangles – figures on the same base and between the same parallels, parallelograms on the same base and between the same parallels, triangles on the same base and between the same parallels
** Circles – circles and its related terms, angle subtended by a chord at a point, perpendicular from the centre to a chord, circle through three points, equal chords and their distances from the centre, angle subtended by an arc of a circle, cyclic quadrilaterals
** Heron’s Formula – area of a triangle by Heron’s formula, application of Heron’s formula in finding area of quadrilaterals

FAQ on LEAD Talent Search Exam LTSE

What does LEAD Trust do?
LEAD Trust is an educational NGO that was formed in 2009 to uplift the academic excellence of the educationally and economically backward students in India. It creates programs to train the students for admissions into many prestigious educational institutions in India such as IIT, AIMS, etc. It wants to produce productive, next generation citizens of India who can play an active and positive role in nation building.

When does it occur?

It occurs once a year, usually on the second weekend in January – normally from 10 AM to 1 PM

Who can write this exam?

All students who are going to appear for the 10th grade exam in that year. The student can be from any caste, religion, ethnicity, or other backgrounds. Both male and female students can write the exam.

Are there any academic pre-requisites for writing the exam?

The student should have secured at least 60% in the 9th grade exam.

What is the exam pattern?

This is a 2-3 hours objective-type exam designed to evaluate the students’ grasp of concepts in the fields of Maths/Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Logical Reasoning. The exams cover areas that are normally taught to students in the 8th, 9th and 10th grades by any educational board in India.

The exam booklet contains test papers for all the subjects mentioned above. But typically, the student writes the exams in only 4 of these subjects, depending on which stream he/she is pursuing.

For example, for someone who wants to pursue the engineering field, he/she would write the papers in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Logical Reasoning. For someone who is aiming for the medical stream, they would write the Biology paper, instead of Maths. All questions are of objective type, and the students need to answer them in an OMR sheet.

Can I apply for both Engineering and Medical streams?

Yes, you can attempt the exams for both the streams.

What is the selection process?

Students will be selected by the Partner colleges based on the following criteria:
** LTSE score
** 10th class scores – when they are available
** 9th class score – minimum 60% is required in the appropriate subjects
** Face-to-face interview – this usually happens after all the 10th board exams have finished, and is conducted in 3-4 different places – one each in Kerala, North and South Karnataka
