What is Odisha Junior Merit Scholarship?

The Government of Odisha in School & Mass Education Department is awarding Junior Merit Scholarship under the Scheme ‘e-medhabruti’ out of the State budget to provide financial assistance to the meritorious Higher Secondary School students of Odisha from families whose parental income does not exceed 6.00 lakhs to meet a part of their educational expenses while pursuing their higher studies. Last Date for submission of scholarship is 15th November 2023.

Remarks : Students of Class XI & XII of both SAMS and Non SAMS Higher Secondary Schools of the State are eligible for this.

Eligibility of Junior Merit Scholarship

i. The student must be a permanent resident of Odisha State.
ii. The Student must have passed HSC with 60% or more marks from an institution recognized by BSE Odisha, CBSE, ICSE, Equivalent Boards, and pursuing regular Class XI courses of 10+2.
iii. The income of the parents of the students from all sources should not exceed Rs.6.00 lakh per annum.
iv. Students shall apply for Junior Merit Scholarship in the 1st year of Joining of the course (Class XI) for Fresh and in Class-XII for Renewal.

Exclusions :
The following students shall not be eligible for Junior Merit Scholarship:
i. Students whose parental income from all sources exceeds Rs.6.00 lakh per annum.
ii. Students pursuing their higher study /correspondence. study through distance learning
iii. Students already availing scholarship for pursuing their study under any other schemes of State or Central Govt.
iv. Students studying Abroad.
V. Students not validated by the concerned Principal/Institution during Class XI (1st year of his/her admission).

How to Apply for Junior Merit Scholarship?

Announcement and Mode of Submission of Scholarship Application for Fresh(Class-XI) & Renewal(Class-XII) Scholarship.
Applications will be invited from eligible students each year on the State Scholarship Portal. All information relating to this scheme will be uploaded in the State Scholarship Portal. Submission of physical application would not be accepted. Only verified online applications will be considered for award of scholarship. i.

i. All eligible Students studying in SAMS & Non-SAMS Higher Secondary Schools needs to upload the required documents such as family income certificate of the current year, mark sheet of HSC, resident certificate and bank account details (first page of bank account which should be in the name of student), Aadhar Card and Higher Secondary School ID card. For details, instruction manual is available in the State Scholarship portal may please be glanced through.

ii. Aadhaar Card authentication is mandatory to avoid any duplicity.
iii. Outside students (students of Odisha but studying outside Odisha) are also required to apply online for this scholarship.
iv. Application which is not validated authenticated by the Higher Secondary School/ Institute will be treated as “Invalid”.
V. Merit/ selection list as per quota would be generated from the verified applications.

Required Documents for Junior Merit Scholarship

The following legible documents will be uploaded at the time of applying under the scheme.
i. Domicile certificate to be issued by the competent authority, i.e. from the concerned Tahasildar /Addl. Tahasildar. The students whose parents are working under Odisha State Govt. can produce resident proof from the employer.
ii. Proof of annual income to be issued by the competent authority. i.e. the Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahasildar or Addl. Tahasildar.
iii. Mark sheets & Certificate of last qualifying examination i.e. HSC from an institution recognized by BSE Odisha, CBSE, ICSE, Equivalent Boards.
iv. Bank Account details of the student concerned (First page of bank account containing account number and IFSC).
v. Higher Secondary School ID card issued by concerned authority. While in theabsence of the same, the student may provide Admission receipt/Library Card/Letter of Undertaking from concerned Higher Secondary School authority (Any one).
vi. Aadhar Card of the student concerned.
