What is NFST 2023-24 National Fellowship of ST Students

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India invites online applications for National Fellowship under the scheme “National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students” for the year 2023-24. The fellowship is awarded to candidates selected for pursuing Ph.D/integrated M.Phil+Ph.D programmes.

The scheme provides financial assistance to ST students for pursuing higher studies courses of M.Phil and Ph.D in India. This is a Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs and every year 750 fresh ST students are given fellowship for pursuing M.Phil and Ph. D. Courses.

Eligibility Criteria NFST National Fellowship

1. The applicant belongsto Schedule Tribe (ST) category and should have passed the post-Graduation examination with minimum 55% for being eligible for the Fellowship.
2. The D.O.B of the applicant should not before 01/07/1987.

3. The Applicant should get admission for regular and full time Ph.D. /Integrated M.Phil.+ Ph.D. Courses in University / Academic Institutions under the following category: –
i. Universities/Institutes/Colleges included under section 2(f) or 12(B) or 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
ii. Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC.
iii. Universities/ Institutes/ Colleges funded by Central/ State Government
iv. Institutes of National Importance

4. In case of Ph.D. and Integrated (M.Phil.+ Ph.D.) the applicant should not have taken admission/joined before 1.4.2019

How to Register NFST National Fellowship?

Applicant applying for National Fellowship need to register on the portal by providing accurate and authenticated information in the “Student Registration form”. Before Initiating registration process, students are advised to follow the instructions.

The applications are invited online on National Fellowship Portal. The detailed guidelines of scheme, Instruction manual, list of Universities and all information required for filling application is available here. The portal is integrated with Digital Locker and fetches documents already available there and also has facility to upload documents not available on digilocker.

For online verification of credentials of applicants, the portal is Integrated with all Universities where students pursue fellowship courses. The portal is also linked with Canara Bank for keeping track research scholar payment details. The registered research scholars and Universities can upload their queries and grievance on portal.

There is provision of sending alerts/notifications through individual or bulk SMS and Emails to fellows and Universities. For monitoring purposes, it is linked to the Dashboard.

Before filling application form online, Research scholars are required to register themselves on the online fellowship portal as well as on Digi Locker since it is mandatory to upload documents through Digi Locker, for which Aadhaar is mandatory as notified by the Ministry.

Documents Required for NFST National Fellowship

A. Profile Photo {size: -50 KB-100 KB} – JPEG file only
B. Date of Birth Proof [10th Passing certificate/10th Marksheet /School leaving Certificate/ 10th Examination Admit card, which must contain Date of Birth]- PDF file only
C. Post-Graduation Marksheet (All Semesters and consolidated by merging the documents) – PDF file only
D. Conversion factor formulae certificate issued from your university/Institutes [In case of marks are in CGPA/SGPA] -PDF file only
E. ST certificate [ Community name should match with drop down list of domiciles States/UTs] – PDF file only
F. PWD Certificate [ issued by Competent Authority if candidate applying as Divyangjan] – PDF file only
G. PVTG Certificate [ Community of PVTG name should match with drop down list of domiciles States/UTs PVTG list] – PDF file only
H. Bonafide Certificate of admission/ joining for Ph.D. / Integrated M.Phil.+ Ph.D.-PDF file only

Note :- The above documents should be inthe applicant’s Digi locker ID (https://www.digilocker.gov.in/)either in issued documents section or in Digi locker Drive.
