Srec Alumni Scholarship Scheme :

1.1 The SREC Alumni Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance to students for studies in professional courses leading to degrees in engineering. This scheme aims to encourage the economically needy and academically deserving students of various Undergraduate Graduate (UG) programmes of the institute to award Alumni Scholarships.

1.2 This scheme supports second, third and final year students of the UG programme.

1.3 Rs 2,00,000 can be utilized for scholarship from SREC Alumni Association account. The amount is to be distributed to the eligible and deserving students (max. 16 students) nominated by the selection committee. The amount utilized for scholarship to be revised every two year once and it should be decided in the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM).

1.4 Each eligible student candidate can avail the scholarship amount to a maximum of Rs. 12,500 (25% Tuition fee waiver). Based on the intake of UG programmes and the eligibility criteria norms will be decided to sanction the scholarship amount.

1.5 The scholarship amount generated through the interest from the SREC Alumni Association corpus fund and Scholarship is solely at the discretion of Executive Committee of SREC Alumni Association and approval from AGM.

1.6 The announcement to be published on the website and Alumni cell notice board during the beginning of academic year which is tentatively the month of July.

1.7 The President, Secretary and Patron of the association will constitute the selection committee comprises of one senior alumnus and two senior professors. The recommendation of the committee decision is final.

1.8 The scholarship is disbursed to the student every year during the Alumni Day function which is scheduled every year in the month of August first week Sunday.

1.9 Students selected to receive the scholarship must participate in the program.

Eligibility Criteria :

2.1 Only BE and B.Tech degree course students are eligible for Alumni scholarships Scheme.
2.2 This scheme supports second, third and final year students of the UG programme of SREC.
2.3 Announcements are made by Alumni Association during the month of July every academic year; look out for alumni cell notice board inviting applications and/or nominations.
2.4 The applicants should have scored not less than 60% marks (Equivalent CGPA is 6.0) at the time applying to the scholarship.
2.5 The candidate should not be a recipient of any other major scholarship worth over Rs.15,000 per annum.
2.6 The student should have been admitted under Government quota through single window counseling.
2.7 Student should not have faced any disciplinary action.
2.8 Alumni Scholarship be provided only once during the period of study.
2.9 The participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities has added advantage for selection.
2.10 The gross family income should not exceed Rs. 2,00,000 per year. Gross income refers to the income before deductions for taxes or other purposes.

Note :

In addition to gross family income, the education and occupation of parents as well as family members including elder brother(s) and sister(s), the family’s living conditions and the total expenses being incurred by the family on the applicant’s education will be taken into consideration for determining the financial eligibility of an applicant. – Where parents of applicants are employees, a salary/pay slip from the employer is mandatory. The salary/pay slip should clearly show the family member’s gross monthly salary with full details of his/her basic salary and all allowances and deductions.

The employer and the facilitator should certify the salary/pay slip. Submission of an Income certificate from a local or other government authority in lieu of a salary/pay slip is not acceptable. – Where parent(s)/guardian(s) are in business or self-employed, income certificate issued by any government authority or the income tax return should be submitted in support of the gross family income specified in the application. Specific details of the nature and size of the business or self-employment should also be provided. – Where parent(s)/guardian(s) are agriculturists or have farming or cultivation as their source of income, an income certificate from a recognized or competent authority should be submitted. Details of the nature and size of the land holding, crops grown, etc. wet or dry land irrigation should also be provided.
