JK Social Welfare Grant-in-Aid To NGO
The Department is providing grant-in-aid registered voluntary organizations for various welfare schemes like income generations/construction and maintenance of homes for destitute etc. the funds are released on sharing basis between Govt. and NGOs i.e. State sponsored (50 : 50) and Centrally sponsored (90 : 10) Schemes:

Eligibility Criteria
** The organization should have registered under the societies registration Act.
** The voluntary organization should have been registered for at least 3 years at the time of applying for grant under the scheme.
** It is non-sectarian engaged in welfare services irrespective of caste, colour or creed.
** It has tangible assets, trained personal and adequate equipment.
** The sanctioning authority is satisfied that there is need for welfare of service in the area and there is no other similar institution existing with a reason able distance from the institution.
** No institution or employee of such institution shall indulge or associate itself with any activity formful to communal harmony.
Proposals Submission Procedure
Applications for grant-in-aid shall be submitted by the NGO/Institutions on the prescribed format (form-“A”) supported by the requisite document in the 1st quarter of each financial year but not latter than 30th June.
The concerned Distt. Social Welfare Officers after have complete all the requisite formalities shall submit the grant-in-aid cases to the Director by or before the end of September. The Director Social Welfare shall submit the same to the Administrative Department by the end of November.
The Director Social Welfare after receiving a proposal and after having satisfied about completion of all the requisite formalities by the NGO/institution shall submit the same to the Administrative Department with his recommendations.

The Social Welfare Department came into existence in the State of J&K in the year 1960. It plays an important role in addressing problems of weaker sections of the society, Like Old Age Persons, Women in Distress, Physically Challenged People, Mal-Nourished children Lactating and expecting women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and other Economically Weaker Sections of the Society.
The role of the Social Welfare in fulfillment of this commitment thus becomes important among the various sections and classes of our population, there is lot of deprivation and neglect and the Social Welfare Department has to be instrumental for removing the distress of these sections through amelioration and anti- poverty measures.
