Basic Science Scholarship :

Applications invited from students who are permanent residents in the State of Meghalaya studying within and outside the State for the year 2017-18 for availing the Basic Science Scholarship for college and University Level under D.H.T.E.

Target Group:
The students who pursue higher education in pure Science stream and have honours in one of the subject as mention in point 6 of this advertisement and are admitted to various non professional UG/PG/PHD courses in Universities / Colleges may also apply for scholarship under the aforesaid scheme.

This scheme is not for students who pursue higher education in Applied Science such as Engineering, Medical, Agriculture, Architecture, Bio-Technology, Bio Medical, BSc-Nursing, Computer Application, Allied Medicine etc.

Eligibility:
Only candidates belonging to Meghalaya who are Permanent Residences and fulfill all other eligibility criteria and conditions will be considered for financial support under the scheme.

Eligibility criteria and conditions of the Scheme will be as follows:
The scholarships are open to Permanent Resident of Meghalaya State only.

(a) Students should have not less than 45% marks at higher secondary graduation level/post graduation. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
(b) The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed R.4.50 lakh from all sources.
(c) These scholarships will be given for the study in Science all recognized UG/PG/Ph.D courses pursued in recognized institutions.
(d) Only those candidates who belong to Meghalaya State i.e. permanently settled and who have passed the 10+2 or any higher secondary examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education in science stream and pursuing the same will be eligible.
(e) Students pursuing part-time courses correspondence courses will not be eligible.
(f) All children of the same parents/guardians will be entitled to receive benefits of the scholarships scheme.

Physical Target :
Every year 1000 scholarships will be distributed among the students pursuing Basic Science according to their merits and parental income from BSc. till PhD level throughout the State of Meghalaya.

Selection Procedure:
Applicant will be selected base on class 12 result, if there is a tie in class 12 percentage between applicants, English subject will be a tie breaker else Parents income will be taken into consideration.

Note:
If the number of the students applied for this scholarship scheme exceeds the Physical target, the scholarship will be restricted to that number of students who occupied top slots in the merit list.

Cancellation of Scholarship:
DHTE may terminate scholarship of any student in case of:

(a) Misconduct of the awardees, if any, reported by the University/CollegeInstitution.
(b) Unsatisfactory progress report i.e. if the candidate scores less than 45% marks in the first year of Bachelor’s Master’s programme (40% in case of Physically Challenged awardee)
(c) Candidates being found ineligible at a later date shall face the penal action and will also be liable to refund the entire scholarship amount paid.

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses under Basic Science scholarship scheme are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics. Botany, Zoology.

How to Apply:
Applicants may apply through application forms only which may be collected from their respective institutes and the duly filled in application should be submitted to the institute. Individual application forms will be issued and accepted only for students studying outside.

The forms may also be downloaded from the website of Director Higher&Technical Education, Meghalaya, megeducation.gov.in.All the Principals submitting the application forms should submit along with the soft and hardcopy in excel format.

Important Dates:
** Forms may be collected from the undersigned, Room No 206(A) from 16.10.2017.
** Last date for submission of application forms will be on or before the 30.11.2017.

Note:
Students are to read the advertisement, details to be fill in and documents to be enclosed in the application form carefully before submission. No application will be entertained after the last date of submission.
