National Talent Search Examination

The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify and nurture talent.

The examination is conducted every year at two levels:-
Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-ll (National Level).

Amount of Scholarships

About One thousand scholarships are awarded for difference stages of education as follows:
(a) Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.
(b) Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
(c) Amount of Scholarship for PhD. be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

Reservation:
15% for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

Selection:
Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage- I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

Qualifying Marks:
Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each paper.

Language Test :
Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit

Eligibility

All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage -I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.

Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 15th July of the particular year), the student is not employed and s/he is appearing in class X examination for the first time

Instructions to the Candidates

1.Candidate can collect the Admission Card from the concerned head of the School at least three days before the examination.
2. Reach the Examination Centre atleast half an hour before the commencement of the examination and occupy the seat that bears your Roll Number.
3. DO NOT take calculator, mobile, Mathematical & physical table or any other kind of ready reckoner to the examination hall.
4. The examination will be conducted in two sessions on the same day.

5. You have to take the examination in TWO PARTS
:
(i) Part I: Part-I is confined to Mental Ability Test(MAT) consisting of 90 compulsory questions containing 45 questions of Mental Ability, 20 questions of English and 25 questions of Hindi.

(ii) Part II: Part-II is confined to Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) consisting of 90 compulsory questions, 35 from Science, 35 from Social Studies and 20 from Mathematics.

6. Time for Part-I is 90 minutes and for Part-II is 90 minutes.
7. Each question carries 1 (one) mark.
8. Write your Roll Number, as given in the Admission Card, on the Answer Sheet (O.M.R. Sheet) and on the cover page of the Question Booklet in the space provided.
9. Physically handicapped students will be provided with the facilities according to the norms of M.H.R.D. on submitting the necessary certificates.
10. All questions in the booklets are objective type, For each question FOUR possible answers are given, but one is correct. Your task is to find out the correct answer and mark your choice in the Answer Sheet.
11. During the Examination follow the instructions of the Invigilator strictly.
12. Hand over your admission Card Answer sheets to the invigilator before you leave the Examination Hall.
13. You can keep photo copy of admission Card.
14. The students will be responsible for any wrong information.
15. If the Caste certificate is attached then the student will be beneficiated as per rules otherwise not.
16. Students will have to bring the admission card otherwise will not be permitted to give the exam.
17. If there is any change in the residential postal address then necessarily inform to the head of the school, centre suprintendent and S.I.E.R.T. through letter.

    I am from Ranchi. I am in class 10th & going to give NTSE exam 2017-2018. Till now, my application is not verified by my school. Please tell me, what can I do for that?
