Pre Matric Scholarship To Scheduled Tribe Students:
In order to encourage the students belonging to ST Community (Bhutia, Lepcha, Limboo & Tamang) of Sikkim in pursuing their studies the Government of Sikkim has been awarding Pre-Matric Scholarship to students studying from classes I to X from the State plan.

Objective:
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the students studying at Pre-Matric stages to enable them to complete their education. The scholarship at Pre-Matric level will encourage the parents to send their children.

Eligibility:
Scholarship will be awarded to students belonging to the state of Sikkim i.e. students whose parents are permanently settled and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.08 lakhs.

Duration:
Scholarship will be provided for 10(ten) months in an academic year.

Rate of Scholarship:
Class – Rate
I – IV -Rs. 750/- p.a.
V – VIII – Rs. 900/- p.a.
IX – X -Rs. 1000/- p.a.

Renewal of Scholarship:
The scholarship is renewed every year on receipt of information from the head of the institutions or the students/parents that the students receiving the scholarship have passed the annual examination.

Documents to be submitted along with the application forms:
** Attested copy of Sikkim Subject / Certificate of Identification.
** ST Certificates.
** Copy of the mark sheet. (class last attended)

Income Certificate:
Attested copies of income certificate of the parents/certified copies of BPL card/ salary certificate of the parents in case of Government employees.

How to apply:
Application form for the scholarship can be obtained from the Office of the Welfare Officer of the concerned district or can be downloaded (click here to download) Application forms duly filled up with all requisite information along with supporting documents are accepted in the month of June-July every year.

Disbursement of scholarship:
The scholarship to eligible students is disbursed through the heads of institutions before the closing of the academic year.
