Prematric Scholarship :

To support students with disabilities to study further in order to prepare themselves to earn their livelihood and to find a dignified place for themselves in the society as they face several barriers physical, financial, psychological, mental in pursuing studies and living with dignity.

Only Indian Nationals will be eligible for scholarships. Scholarship under the Scheme will be awarded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Government of India.

Conditions of Eligibility:
(i) The scholarships are open to nationals of India only.
(ii) The students having less than 40% disability (Certified by competent medical authority of the state Governments/UTs.) are not eligible.
(iii) Not more than two disabled children of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme. Provided in case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under this scheme will be admissible to both the twins. Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only oneyear.
vi) Scholarship holders who are receiving coaching in any of the pre-examination training centres with financial assistance from the Central Government/ State Government will not be eligible for stipend under the coaching schemes for the duration of thecoaching programme.

Operational Guidelines For National Scholarships Portal:
1. Online submission of application form can be done through the Website https://scholarships.gov.in/ any of the internet access points.
2. Click on “STUDENT LOGIN” on Home page.
3. Click on “REGISTER”
4. A new web Page requesting to Enter the preliminary data as required for the Registration is displayed. Fill all the details corresponding to the titles/Labels appearing on the page.
5) After entering the details corresponding to titles 4A to 4L. Click on the “SUBMIT” Button. Note-Check the details entered in titles 4A to 4L very carefully as changes will not be allowed after clicking submit button.
6.)WebPage displays TEMPORARY Registration No. of the Applicant. Click “PROCEED” Button to move on to the next Page

Question 1 What are the conditions of eligibility?
Answer:
(a) A citizen of India
(b) A person with disability having not less than 40% disability and having a disability issued by any competent medical authority.
(c) Not more than two disabled children of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme. Provided in case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under this scheme will be admissible to both the twins.
(d) Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she would not get scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year.
(e) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/stipend, the student can exercise his/her option for either of the two scholarships/stipends, which is more beneficial to him/her and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution about the option made.

Question 2 For which class/course student with disability is eligible for scholarship?
Answer :
Students are eligible for scholarships for different classes as per details given below:
(1) Pre-Matric Scheme for SwDs:- Students eligible for class-IX & X in a Government school or in a school recognized by Government or by a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.

(2) Post-Matric Scheme for SwDs
:- Students eligible for all recognized Schools/Institutions from class XI onwards to Post-graduate Degree/Diploma courses in Full time and Distance Education courses.

Students who after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in different subject e.g. B.Com. after B.A. in other subject will not be eligible. However, students pursuing L.L.B/B.Ed/B.El.Ed. after passing B.A./B.Sc./B.E. etc. are eligible for Post-matric Scholarship under this Scheme.

(3) Scholarships for Top Class Education for SwDs:- Students eligible for Post-graduation Degree/Diploma in 240 notified Institutes as given in the Scheme guidelines.

Question 3 Whether students pursuing studies through correspondence/distance education are eligible for scholarship?
Answer : Yes. Applicable in case of only Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme.

Question 4 What should be the maximum total parental income to apply for the Scheme?
Answer:
Pre-Matric Scheme:-The parental/guardian’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh per annum.
Post-Matric Scheme: – The parental/guardian’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh per annum.
Top Class Education Scheme: – The total income from all sources of the candidate and/or his/her parents/guardian’s shall not exceed Rs.6.00 lakh per annum.

Question 5 What is the last date for submission of applications online?
Answer
: Closure dates for acceptance of various scholarship applications are available in National Scholarships Portal.

Question 6 How can I apply online for scholarship?
Answer: In order to apply online, Please visit website: scholarships.gov.in

Question 7 Do I have to fill up the online application in one sitting?
Answer: No. You can fill up the online application in as many sittings as you wish, until you are satisfied that you have entered all desirable fields correctly. The software provides facility to save your application at every stage.

Question 8 Can I register after the last date?
Answer: Unless the date for registration has been extended you cannot register in the portal. You can register before or on the last date up to midnight of date available on portal.
