Merit Cum Means Scholarship :

The West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation invites online application for meritorious students belonging to minority communities (i.e. Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Zoroastrian and Jain) for the year (2017-18)

Eligibility Criteria :
** Students pursuing UG/PG level of professional technical courses are eligible to apply.
** Annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakhs.
** May be required for uploading the original scanned documents.

Timeline :
** Submission of Online applications for Fresh scholarship by students – 1st June to 31st August, 2017
** Submission of Online applications for Renewal scholarship by students – 1st June to 31st July, 2017

Important Instructions :
** Eligible students are to apply online at www.scholarships.gov.in.
** Students must be a citizen of India and domicile of West Bengal.
** Students who are applying for the first time will have to submit application as fresh candidate.

Procedure For Applying :
(i) The scheme is implemented through National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website of this Ministry i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.
(ii) The list of documents to be scanned & uploaded for both Fresh and Renewal Scholarships as under:
a) Student Photo. (Mandatory)
b) Institution Verification Form. (Mandatory)
c) Self declaration of Income Certificate by the student. (Mandatory)
d) Self declaration of community by the student. (Mandatory)
e) In case of Fresh: Self Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Academic Mark sheet’ as filled in Form. (Mandatory)
f) In case of Renewal: Self-Attested Certificate of Previous Year Marksheet as filled in the Form. (Mandatory)
g) Fee Receipt of current course year. (Mandatory)
h) Proof of Bank Account in the name of student. (Mandatory)
i) Aadhaar Card (optional)
j) Residential Certificate. (Mandatory)

Other Conditions :
i) The scholarship is dependent on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar. If it is reported by the Head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of his/her own act of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or participating in strikes, irregularity in attendance without the permission of the authorities concerned etc., the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel the scholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit.

ii) If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered, at the discretion of the concerned State Government. The student concerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever.

iii) A scholarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course of study or changes the Institution of study, without prior approval of the State Government/UT Administration. The Head of the Institution shall report such cases to this Ministry.

iv) A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount, if during the course of the year, the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded, is discontinued or change in the subject of study.

v) The regulations under the scheme can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the Government of India.

vi) The list of Graduate Degree level and Post Graduate level technical and professional courses under Merit cum Means based Scholarship scheme is available on the website of this Ministry.

  1. When will the merit list be generated by the states?

  2. At first the site was not opened. So we don’t fill up this form. But now our college is closed. So what can I do?

  4. I HAVE APPLIED FOR POST MATRIC MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP. BUT AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION ENTRY I HAVE FORGOTTEN TO WRITE BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. SO FINAL SUBMISSION IS NOT ALLOWED BY THE SYSTEM. HOW CAN I SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

  5. I am B.Com honors student. I got 92% in HS examination. Can I get this scholarship?

  6. This scholarship also helps poor (financial) students but you did not give every students who full fill the online form. I always fill up the form but did not got any scholarship. I always obtain above fifty percent mark. Now I obtain in class 12th with 69.6%.
