Scholarship :

This is in reference to the notification published in the daily Greater Kashmir dated 10th of February 2017 by Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir wherein, the Government of India has re-opened the correction provision of Bank Account details of the students whose scholarship has been sanctioned for the year (2015-16) under Merit Cum Means and Post Matric based scholarship schemes.

The option will remain active till 10th of March 2017 and all the concerned students whose scholarship has not been sanctioned due to the wrong bank account details or any other problem related to bank accounts are advised to report to Directorate of Social Welfare, Kashmir Block “A” Old Secretariat, Srinagar between 2:00 P.M to 4:30 P.M for correction of Bank Account details.

In this regard, all the Heads and In-charges of the Departments are requested to inform all the eligible students about the same and paste the notification on their respective notice boards as well.

There are number of Schemes such as Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme, Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, Pahari Speaking (PS) Scheme, Other Backward Classes (OBC) Scheme, Physically Challenged Students (PCS) Scheme, Scheduled Castes (SC) Scheme and Resident of Backward Area (RBA) Scheme.

IUST remains in constant touch with various Government departments such as Ministry of HRD GoI, Department of Social Welfare, Directorate of Tribal Affairs, State Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari speaking people and J&K State Board of School Education to have the maximum number of scholarships granted to its students.

The procedure is being meticulously followed by informing the students at right time about any such opportunity and accordingly they are being briefed about the formalities to be fulfilled.

Further, the Application Forms are properly scrutinized and incase of any discrepancies the students are again informed to clear the lacunae and thereafter the applications complete in all respects are forwarded to the concerned Government department in a very systematic manner both online and offline (hard copy) form.

It is worth to mention here that the Ministry of Minority Affairs GoI has introduced Online Scholarship Management System (OSMS) under the Merit cum Means and Post Matric scholarship schemes which is available on the website of momascholarship.gov.in In the consecutive year since 2011 the number of applicants from IUST has increased tremendously upto 1065, in the year 2013.

Due to the fact that the IUST organises special awareness lecture sessions to encourage the deserving / meritorious students to apply for the scholarships.

About University:
The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, J&K has been established through an Act No. XVIII of 2005 dated: 7th November 2005 passed by J&K State Legislature and notified by the State Government, through Jammu & Kashmir Government Gazette dated: 11-11-2005.

While the university started functioning in November, 2005 the teaching programme was started in July 2006. The Chancellor of the University is the Chief Minister of J&K State and the executive authority of the University is its Executive Council with the Vice Chancellors of University of Jammu, University of Kashmir and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University as members
