Under the first theme of “responsibility” we have identified and are addressing such material issues as strengthening corporate governance, strengthening internal controls, strengthening compliance, respect for human rights, promoting human resources development, promoting supply chain managementand promoting social contribution activities.
Looking at our social contribution activities, MIPL had been making donations and organizing relief camps for areas struck by natural disasters and encouraging its employees to volunteer in local cleanup efforts. To take this CSR program further and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of MIPL in India, MIPL has started a scholarship program to provide scholarship funds for young people in India.
By virtue of this Scholarship program, MIPL seeks to provide access to meritorious students in pursuing post-secondary education to members of our community who otherwise may be constrained due to limited financial means to fulfill their educational goals. Marubeni perceive higher education as a catalyst, an agent of change for individuals, families, communities and nations. We envision a community that recognizes the importance of educational attainment which assures positive educational outcomes that are accessible to all regardless of economic circumstance.
Marubeni will continue to promote its CSR activities and remain a trusted partner of our stakeholders by seriously committing ourselves to addressing the social issues.
