Mahamana Malviya Scholarship 2015 :

Introduction of coveted “MAHAMANA MALVIYA SCHOLARSHIP” as a tribute to legendry Pt. Madan Mohan Malviyaji, the founder of Banaras Hindu University, for the students of class XI & XII of CBSE schools by BHU Alumni Association, Ranchi

The scholarship shall be awarded to the students on the BHU alumni association annual day function to be held on 20th February 2016

About the Scholarship :
** As a mark of honour and glowing tribute to its Alma mater and legendry founder, BHU Alumni Association, Ranchi, takes a first decisive step to proudly announce the launching of Merit-cummeans scholarship called “MAHAMANA MALVIYA SCHOLARSHIP”. The scholarship aims to help poor and meritorious students to pursue higher education by mitigating their sufferings and economic hardship.

** The scholarship shall be granted to the students of class XI & XII only. The selection for scholarship shall be based on the results of class X, 4 students (two boys & two girls) of class XI shall be selected for scholarship. From academic year 2014-15, 2 students each from class XI & XII shall be selected for the scholarship.

** Each student shall be given a maximum amount of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) in an academic year along with a citation. The amount shall be given through Account payee cheque in the name of selected student. The scholarship will be limited to students of CBSE schools of Ranchi Municipal area only. Not more than 4 applications shortlisted by each school fulfilling the criteria should be sent to the BHU Alumni Association.

** The terms & conditions and eligibility criteria are also available on our website bhualumni.com. The last date for receipt of complete application in all respects in the office of Secretary, BHU Alumni Association shall be 20th January, 2016.

Eligibility Criteria For Scholarship:

1. This scholarship shall be granted only to students studying in class XI & XII.
2. The scholarship will be granted to two boys and two girls.
3. Students securing greater than or equal to 60 % marks or CGPA 7 or B2 grade in all the subjects at the annual examination can only apply.
4. The income of the parents/legal guardian should not exceed Rs.100,000/-(Rupees One Lac only) per annum (both father’s and mother’s income taken together).
5. Students will not be eligible for the award of scholarship if he/she is receiving scholarships from any other source. The declaration in this regard, copy of the marks sheet and recent income certificate (to be obtained from appropriate Govt. Authority and signed by Principal of the school) must be submitted along with the application. The income certificate to be submitted, must not be more than 1 year old.
6. The students applying for scholarship must record at least 75 % attendance throughout the academic year. In this respect, an attendance certificate is required from the principal of the school.
7. The students should have good discipline and no adverse report regarding the conduct is pending against him/her.
8. Only one student will be granted the scholarship from a family in an academic year.
9. Once granted, the scholarship will be applicable for only one academic year which will be renewable after considering all the above mentioned conditions, for another 1 year. In any case, the scholarship will be granted for maximum period of 2 years. The academic year for all purposes, shall be taken as the financial year e.g. 2012-13 academic year shall mean period from 01.04.2012 to 31.03.2013.

11. The shortlisted students/parents may be interviewed along with original certificates.
12.Students and parents may note that any fraudulent means adopted in securing the scholarship may lead to cancellation of the grant of scholarship and refund of the amount already disbursed. This may also debar the student/family from seeking scholarship in future
13. The decision of the BHU Alumni committee on Scholarship will be final and binding.

Enclosure :
Enclosure required along with filled-up application form:
i) Duly attested copy of the marks sheet
ii) Duly attested copy of the income certificate
iii) Attendance certificate signed by principal of the school
iv) Character certificate signed by principal of the school
v) Declaration letter regarding non-receipt of scholarship from any other source from the student and countersigned by Principal of school
vi) Two recent colour passport size photographs – one pasted on the application form and another separately attached. Name of the student & school should be clearly written on the back of the photograph being separately attached.
