Bidaai/ Shaadi Scheme :

Bidaai Scheme for financial assistance to the poor minority women/divorcees and widows belonging to Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist and Parsi community of the state for their marriage purpose.

As per the Government order No. MWD 533 MDS 2013, dated 13.11.2013 the bidaai scheme is being implemented to dole out Rs. 50000/- to the poor muslim, jain, Christian, Buddhist, Sikhs & parsi women/divorcees and widows at the time of marriage for purchasing essential commodities.

Eligibility :
** Must be a holder of BPL Card.
** This benefit can be availed only once in lifetime.
** The bride who gets this benefit should attain 18 years and bridegroom 21 years.
** Beneficiaries will be given Rs. 50000/- under this scheme.

Purpose :
The main purpose of this scheme is to provide the financial assistance for the backward Muslim women during marriage.Beneficiary under this scheme is bound to get financial aid of Indian rupee 50,000. This was planned to be funded by Karnataka Wakf board (Muslim endowment controlled by Karnataka State Government) which had plans of allocating 10 crores for the scheme and not from Tax Payer money.

Scheme’s Objectives :
** The main motto of the scheme is to provide financial assistance for the backward Muslim women during their marriage. In this scheme, the beneficiaries get Rs. 50,000 as a financial assistance from the state government.
** The main aim of this scheme is to bring a positive change after a girl child is born to the family, to support the family financially for the marriage of a girl, to discourage any minor girl marriage in the state and encourage marriages only after the girl has attained the legal age for marriage.
** This scheme is a good initiative for the development of minority community, as there are even some poor people in the minority community who don’t even have much money to arrange marriage cost.
** To get benefits under this scheme the girl candidate need to satisfy some eligibility norms which are mentioned below

** Identity card such as Aadhaar card
** BPL card
** Birth certificate
** Income certificate
** Bank account details
** Passport size photos
** Minority certificate

Applying Procedure:
Applicant should fill the application form and attached all essential documents. Now, submit it to the department of minorities office in the Karnataka state

About the Directorate :
The Directorate of Minorities was carved out of Directorate of Backward Classes and created in the year 1999-2000 to ensure a more focus approach towards issues relating to the notified Minorities communities, namely Muslim, Christians, Jains, Buddhist, Sikhs and Parsis.

The Directorate working with vision to enable all the Minority Community people to lead a productive life with equal opportunities in the field of Socio, Economic, Education etc.
