Welfare department is running a number of stipend schemes for the welfare of SC, ST and OBC students.

Stipend Rates

1. Post Matric  As per the GOI rates which ranges between
Rs. 90/- to Rs. 425/- for different courses.
2. High School stipend (Class 7 to 10) Rs. 55/- per month
3. Middle School stipend (Class 5 to 6) Rs. 30/- per month
4. Primary School stipend (Class 1 to 4) Rs. 15/- per month
5. Mushahar stipend Rs. 30/- per month
6. Hostellers Rs. 80/- per month
7. Stipend for Technical courses Rs. 150/- per month
8. Stipend to wards of the people engaged in unclean occupation As per Govt. of India rates

How to Receive Stipend?

To avail the benefit of stipend schemes the students of SC, ST and OBC communities need to fill the prescribed form, which is available with the officers of the Welfare Departments, that is, BWO, SWO and DWO.

After filling the form and attaching the necessary papers like caste certificate, income certificate, they should submit it to the head of the institution/school.

These applications are examined and placed before the stipend committee at the Block, Subdivision and District levels. Orders have been issued from the H.Q. level to conduct meetings every month for sanction of stipend.

Therefore, the students should contact the authorities after one month from the date of submission of application and get the stipend money. If the students face any problem, should directly correspond with the Dy. Development Commissioner and the District Magistrate of their district, the Director, Welfare at Patna.

Residential Schools :
Welfare Department is running 30 residential schools for scheduled caste boys and 21 schools for girls, 15 residential schools for scheduled tribes and 12 residential schools for OBC girls. Students are admitted on the basis of merit in these schools and they are provided free boarding, lodging and education.

Uniform to Girls :
Specially for SC, ST School going girls this scheme of Uniform to Girls is being implemented. Under this scheme, two sets of dresses are provided every year at a cost of Rs. 250/- per set. Uniform is provided to the SC and ST school going girls who are studying in govt. schools. To avail the facility the students and their guardians are advised to contact the Head Master of the school or the BWO of the block.

Hostel Scheme :
Welfare Department is running hostels scheme for SC, ST and OBCs. In these hostels, only residential facility is provided to the students. The students in these hostels run mess by themselves.

Ayurvedic Medical Centres :
In Bihar, 10 Ayurvedic Medical Center are being run to provide medical facilities to ST people in the ST dominated areas. In these centers Ayurvedic Medical officers are posted to provide medical advices to the ST people, medicines are also provided in these center free of cost.

Medical and Legal Aid :
Under this scheme assistance from Rs. 300/- to Rs. 1,000/- is provided as per the need for medical treatment. Similarly, under the scheme of Legal Aid the SC &ST people are provided assistance to contest the court cases. Under this scheme the advocates are engaged and they are paid.
