Nishkam SHDF Scholarships

Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council (Regd.), New Delhi in association with Sikh Human Development Foundation, U.S.A (SHDF) invite Applications for SHDF Scholarships from regular students studying in recognized Colleges and Universities for Professional Degree/Diploma Courses

Applications are invited for Professional Degree/Diploma Courses like Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Medical, Nursing, Home Science, Architecture, Agriculture, Business Management, B.Ed., Journalism, CA etc

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have appeared in Class XII Examination in March, 2019 can also apply and take the Written Test and Interview, Scholarship for such students will be considered only on receipt of proof of admission to a professional course in recognized Institute/college and if found eligible otherwise.

(i) Minimum 60% marks in previous two examinations and
(ii) Total family income from all sources not exceeding Rs.1,80,000 per year.

Scholarship Amount

Up to Rs. 30,000 per year per student.

Selection Process

Eligible students will be required to take a Written Test in Punjabi and General Knowledge (based on prescribed books) at any one of the seven Centres namely New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda and Amritsar(Details to be notified later).

New Applicants

This is a five step process.

First :
Obtain / download the prescribed Application Form, which is available at Nishkam’s website www.nishkam.in.

Second :
Obtain/Collect necessary documents to be submitted with the Application Form.

Required Documents:
Attach the following documents along with filled in and signed Application Form

1. Three recent photographs -Good quality colored passport size (Paste TWO photographs at appropriate place in the Application Form and ONE with your name on the backside of it in an envelope to be attached to the form).

2. Mark sheets of 10th Class Examination, Sr. Secondary Examination & later exam, if any (Self Attested).
3. DMC /Attested copies of Gazette (for the Examinations passed during 2018-2019) of professional courses.

4. Fees receipts paid for the academic year 2019-20 (Self Attested). No handwritten Receipts will be accepted.
5. Copy of Death certificate(s), if father/mother is not alive.

6. Proof of family income (both parents):
Must attach attested copy of latest Income Tax Return / Employer Certificate/Pension Certificate mentioning yearly income, original valid certificate from the Tehsildar or village Sarpanch (stating agriculture land’s acreage and annual income).

For daily wage labourers, small shopkeepers (specify type of shop), self-employed persons (who have filed no income tax return) provide original affidavit, stating income from all sources as per the appropriate enclosed FORMAT.

Third :
Fill up the application, clearly and completely (with no dots, dashes and blanks), and send it, together with attested photocopies of all certificates and receipt of fees paid and other necessary documents, so as to reach Nishkam office in New Delhi (by mail or delivered personally) latest by 27th July 2019. Incomplete Forms/ Forms received after due date will be summarily rejected.

Fourth :
Applicants whose forms are found complete in all respects, will appear, at his/her own expense, in the written test to be conducted by Nishkam (time and place will be notified separately)

The admit cards for the written test will be sent on e-mail. Schedule of written test and venue will be intimated through said admit card or at our website www.nishkam.in .

Details of Written Test :
The written test consists of following two papers (in Punjabi language)

Paper I: Elementary test in punjabi language will be from General Grammar and the students will have to prepare by selfstudy.

Paper II: Religious and Moral studies will be from a book ‘NAITIK SIKHIYA’ published by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana

Fifth :
Candidates qualifying written test will appear for Interview, at their own expense. Date, time and venue for the interview will be notified later on.

Old Applicants

Application :
For renewal of SHDF Scholarships 2019, the students are required to submit duly filled in College Report (Format for the same is attached herewith) along with latest Original Income Proof, Photocopy of DMC or attested copy of gazette of last semester’s/year’s result and photocopies of fee receipts for the last year (see details below) latest by 27th July, 2019.

Required Documents :
With the duly FILLED-IN and SIGNED College Report, attach the following documents

1. Three recent photographs-Good quality colored passport size (paste TWO photographs at appropriate places in the Application Form and attach third to be put in an envelope with your name / Roll No. on the back side of it.

2. DMC/ attested Gazette of last 2 Semesters’ or 1 year of college education Examinations
3. Fees receipts for amount paid to college/institute for the last year.
4. Copy of Death certificate(s), if father/mother is not alive.
5. Proof of family income (both parents)

Seminar/ Workshop:
It may also be noted that each student eligible for Renewal of Scholarship and whose professional course is going to be completed during current year or next year will have to attend at least one Seminar / Workshop for his/her improvement of Communication skills, Personality Development, Moral Science, Human Values and Career Guidance during the year.

Selection Process :
Candidates will also be required to appear for Interview. This interview shall be based on the subject matter contained in the recommended book “Naitik Sikhya” (prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana), General Knowledge and about content of the course for which scholarship is to be paid.

Interview Centres :
The Interview shall be conducted at different centres (convenient to the applicant) say Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Faridkot, Bathinda, Moga and New Delhi on the date and time will be intimated later on by e-mail or can be checked at Nishkam’s website www.nishkam.in
