DST Scholarship For Higher Education (SHE)

Applications for the year 2017 are invited from eligible candidates for INSPIRE Scholarship under Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE).

Interested and eligible students must apply and submit their application with all essential documents through ONLINE mode only, through the web-portal

The scholarships are limited to the candidates who have passed Class XII in the year 2017 only from various recognized Indian State and Central Boards and studying courses in natural/ basic sciences at three years B.Sc., B.Sc (Hons), four years B.S and five years integrated M.Sc./M.S programs in any UGC recognized College/ University/ Institutions in India.

Value & Type of Support

Each eligible candidate will receive scholarship valued at Rs. 80,000/- annually. The cash value payable to the SHE scholarship holder is Rs. 60,000/- per annum along with a summer time attachment fee of Rs. 20,000/- which will be paid for undertaking summer time research project.

Note : The 2013 batch responsive scholars are requested to upload the required documents till 31st August 2018

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

1. Candidates with in age group of 17-22 years.

2. The eligible candidate must be already enrolled into a valid degree level course in natural / basic sciences at any UGC recognized College or University or National Institute in India.

3. The eligibility of candidates will be based on
a) performance in Board Examinations within the cut-off threshold for each State or Central Board Examination in the year 2017 at Class XII.
b) performance in any of the specified Competitive Examinations within stipulated cut off ranks and recipient of various scholarships and medals.

In the case of receiving more than 10,000 eligible applications in the given year, the selection will be on the basis of Board inclusive model within the available number of Scholarships in that year.

How to Apply

To apply On-line just follow the below steps,
Step 1 : Go to the official website of Department of Science & Technology through the URL https://www.online-inspire.gov.in/.

Step 2 : The students who apply for the scholarship should first register in the website. For that click Register link in the home page.

Step 3 : Enter the following details and Click Submit button
** Name & Gender
** Date of Birth
** Email
** Password
** Eligibility Criteria
** Verification Code

The applicants are advised to obtain a print out of the submitted online application for his/her records.

Note :
(i) Incomplete or wrongly filled up application or application with lack of essential documents will summarily be rejected.
(ii) The applicant’s own valid and functional email address must be used for submission of the On-line application.
(iii) Do Not Submit More Than One Application.

Final Selection Process

Final Selection Process for offering INSPIRE Scholarship for the year 2017 Batch students under Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) component of the INSPIRE Scheme.

Accordingly, number of Scholarship with respect to each Board was computed by using following steps
** Computing of Board-wise Quota for number of Scholarship,

** Repositioning of the %-age cut-off marks of that Board based on available Number of Scholarship of that Board as computed above,
** Considering all Students up to that % Cut-off Marks in that Board,

** Besides this, number of scholarship for Competitive Examination routes also computed.
** To offer all valid applications of a Board, in case number of valid applications of that Board is less than or equal to 5.

Based on the above, finally 12246 students would be required to offer now from the Batch 2017 across 29 Boards (except TamilNadu & AMU).
