Each student is provided with mentorship and an individually designed program. The students are able to gain a deeper understanding of the needs within our communities, and they are able to help alleviate some of the need within the volunteer sector while taking part in an enriching experience.

The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), formally known as the Department of Chemical Technology at the University of Mumbai is the alma mater of one of Gunvati J. Kapoor’s sons and is one of the oldest and most premier universities in India. It is a university devoted to education, training, research, and industrial collaboration in chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, and bioprocessing.

The Gunvati J. Kapoor Scholarship was created to recognize and honour academically talented students at ICT in order to aid in the positive development of their academics and to help them gain a rich experience by serving their communities.

All students who are honoured with this scholarship are given an opportunity to intern with an NGO for two weeks. The intent is to create an increased sense of social responsibility, and a subsequent desire to “give back” to the communities from which they have come.

Students are placed into specific project areas based on their interests and skills. By participating and working with NGOS, students forge bonds with each other, as well as other members of the community. These bonds help in enhancing their interpersonal skills and increase their social networks.

In an increasingly segmented society, volunteering leads to an increased care for others and a desire to cooperate and get involved in positive ways. The ICT scholarships provide students with well-needed resources to pursue their education while providing them with volunteer opportunities to make a difference in their communities.

Youth Fellowship Program :
Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak’s Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Arts, Science and Commerce is among the earliest institutions of higher learning that emerged on the educational landscape of the city of Bombay.

Established in 1937 by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. The motto of Guru Nanak Khalsa College is “The Essence of Wisdom is Service to Mankind.” In the spirit of their motto, we have implemented a scholarship program that includes a six-week community service placement within an NGO.

Thus far, 89 students have gained experience and exposure by being placed in the NGO’s listed below. We are very grateful to all our partner NGO’s who have helped us in executing this project.

The feedback from this scholarship program has been very positive; however, it has been observed that the students would benefit from additional skills training.
